Accept the commandline.

In this case via “Alt-d”, the usual keybinding for the readline function “kill-word”. The word “appuser” is removed and the cursor remains at the same position as in the re-search prompt, ready to enter the new username “otheruser”.

re-search supports a wide range of typical readline-functions to accept the search term and directly execute the corresponding function on the resulting commandline.
